Post-doctoral position in Ecosystem-Atmosphere Exchange at San Diego State University, CA

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to conduct model-data integration of ecosystem-atmosphere exchange of carbon, water and energy at US Forest Service AmeriFlux and Climate Tower sites. We seek a motivated individual to conduct research to improve interpretation of the variability in terrestrial ecosystem fluxes through process-based modeling, and/or statistical analyses. Measurements of eddy covariance fluxes and spectroscopy stable carbon and water isotope ratios are available to facilitate model development and validation.

The successful candidate is expected to produce peer-reviewed publications, develop new research proposals and present at national/international conferences. She/he will join a team of scientists at the newly founded “Climate Change and Sustainability Study Center” at SDSU, and will collaborate with the dynamic research group led by Dr. Dave Hollinger. Applicants with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • a Ph.D. degree in Earth System Science, Atmospheric Science, Ecology, Biogeochemistry or a relevant discipline
  • modeling experience in terrestrial ecosystem or biosphere-atmosphere interaction
  • strong quantitative and programming skills
  • very good communication skills in English

Appointments are for one year with a second year extension possible based on performance. Start date can begin as soon as a suitable candidate is identified. Electronic applications as a single pdf are preferred. For additional information, contact Dr. Chun-Ta Lai. To apply, please send your curriculum vitae including a list of publications, a research statement, and a list of three references to:
